Research is expensive. It's also high risk. These are not great qualities for our projects, but at the same time, we still need new techniques and innovative approaches to push the boundaries of our medium. How can we reconcile this with ensuring that potential research for our games leads to commercially viable results that justify the investment? This talk is about how you can have your cake and eat it too, by outsourcing your R&D projects.
