Matiss Karro hit the professional motocross scene like a whirlwind in 2007. The Latvian teenager entered for the last three GP's of 2007 when he was still only 15 years old, and qualified for 2 of those, scoring his first GP points along the way. This makes him one of the youngest GP points scorers ever. In 2008 he won every single European Championship race that he completed without problem. Matiss raised the eyebrows of the professional racing world at the GP of Lommel in 2008. Still only 16 years of age, he sensationally ran in 9th position for most of the race until the second last lap, when he ran out of fuel. A week later he got his consolation when he won the motocross Junior World Championships at Heerde in Holland. At 16 years of age, he was the joint youngest rider to ever claim this title.
