Candlelight Vigil in Limerick City in remembrance of Savita Halappanavar, who tragically lost her life and the life of her unborn child in University Hospital Galway last month, because of a lack of proper legislation regarding abortion in Ireland. Savita who was having problems with her pregnancy was admitted to hospital in Galway. After a while, both the doctors and her family knew that she could possibly lose her life if the pregnancy was not terminated asap. However doctors refused to terminate the pregnancy to save Savita's life stating that Ireland was a Catholic country and therefore they had to wait for the baby's heartbeat to stop naturally. Sadly both Savita and her unborn child passed away last month.
Similar vigils were also held in Dublin, Galway and Cork.
Many thanks to Mary, Sandra and all that took part.
