Leader McCarthy Talks Trade and Tax Cuts on CNBC

On the G-7 summit and the importance of free and fair trade:

“I am a firm believer nobody wins a trade war–we all understand that. The one thing about the G-7 is there is more that unites us than divides us. Like any family at the end of the day, we will find a place to come together…. It’s important to remember what's happened in this meantime–we renegotiated a trade agreement with South Korea, which is fairer for America…. At the end of the day I want to be able to have more fair trade. Look, America and Canada have been longtime allies… we will find a place to get together and work through all of this.”

On how tax reform is helping our economy thrive:

“A million jobs have been created since we passed tax reform…. In the last 49 years in the history of America unemployment has only been below 4% for seven months…and two of those seven months were April and May…. After tax reform 48 out of 50 states now have lower electrical bills and in one company, 1.2 million employees now have a longer maternity leave. This is helping to transform America…if you look at household wealth, it has increased by $7 trillion. This is unbelievable…we have not seen this growth in decades.”

On rolling back job-killing and ill-conceived Obama-era regulations:

“The Congressional Review Act allows us to go in, look at regulation and repeal it with a 51 votes in the Senate. It had only been done one time in history–we've done it 16 times. It is transforming this economy and we're going to continue to do that and put us in a stronger position… At the end of the day people will have a clear decision– do they want the economy to continue to grow? Or do they want to fall back to Nancy Pelosi, increase taxes, and take the million jobs off the table. I don't think that's where America wants to go for the future.”
