Norbert Glanzberg (* 12 October 1910 in Rohatyn near Lemberg, Austria Hungary; † 25 February 2001 in Neuilly-sur-Seine) was a French composer and pianist.
Norbert Glanzberg, son of Malka and Samuel Glanzberg, was Jewish descent. In its first year of life his family with him pulled to Wuerzburg. Starting from 1924 he took piano and composition instruction at the Würzburger state conservatoire for music. Five years later he accepted a place at the municipal theatre in Aachen. 1931 he was discovered as a composer in Berlin. He worked at the UFA for Billy Wilder and Max Ophüls and composed the music to the movies "Der falsche Ehemann"husband and "Dann schon lieber Lebertran"
After the seizure of power of the National Socialists fled Glanzberg to Paris, where he spent some hunger years, in which he no firm employment found. In France he made the acquaintance with some famousnesses such as Édith Piaf or Tino Rossi. After the occupation of France Glanzberg had to usually live hidden and frequently with falsified papers with friends such as Piaf or in the castle of the countess Pastré near Marseille. After the war tours led he as piano companions of Renée Lebas, Charles Trenet or Tino Rossi around the whole world. He wrote chansons for Édith Piaf and Yves Montand.
1952 he married Marischka Mazurek. He composed the music to films like the courier of the tsar, the bride is too beautiful. 1959 came his son Serge Glanzberg to the world. He wrote Suite Jiddisch to 1984 after texts of the Anthologie „death is a master from Germany ". 1996 died his wife. 1998 he returned the first time to Wuerzburg, in order to give a concert. Three years later he died.
