This week marks the week of BKS Iyengar's 90th birthday. In honor of this auspicious event, iHanuman humbly offers you asanas as taught in the Iyengar method by Senior Iyengar Yoga Teacher John Schumacher. John is among the students traveled to India this week to celebrate with Mr. Iyengar.
iHanuman will post asanas every day until today, the winter solstice, in honor of this event. Salamba Sarvangasana I or Supported All Limbs pose is an extremely beneficial and powerful pose when practiced properly. It is considered the Queen or mother of all asanas. The benefits include improved circulation, improved balance and poise, increased vitality and an enhanced immune system.
Those who suffer from high or low blood pressure and women who may be pregnant should consult a physician before attempting this pose. This pose is not recommended for women who are menstruating.
