F2L Tutorial Remade!
My attempt at logically explaining exactly how the F2L in the Fridrich method works, so that you will never have to learn the algorithms for it. The method that I explain here is foolproof, meaning that it works every time, but takes a little longer. Placing one corner-edge pair should not take more than about 7 or 8 moves. If some move is taking you longer, it is probably a good idea to brute force learn the algorithm for it. This is however quite rare, so you don't have to worry about it unless you want to go for below 20 seconds or so, full solve.

Part1: Case1, Case2
Part2: Case3, examples

links to solutions:

NOTE: please be aware that the way I handle the cases here is NOT always optimal. I am just trying to show a foolproof way of handling F2L in general, and most of the cases I showed for example in the Example Solves can be done MUCH faster. Look into the solutions, or try to derive the fast versions yourself!

Finally a decent tutorial that goes through all the cases.

Maybe he means he finally found one ;)
"Finally"? The video has been on Youtube for seven years

Wow this video is old and still way better than newer tutorials. Good job i just started learning f2l and this id the only tutorial that made sense!

Hey badmephisto, I have fully learned F2L intuitively, but I am damn slow, sub 1 min to do F2L here. Why so :(

+Raghav Senwal i know what you mean i just began solving mabey about a week ago but have had the cube for 7 or 9 years not completly sure and it is original rubiks so it's kinda hard to move and it does not corner cut not even 5% haha i avarege about 1min if it gets stuck around 2min with beginers method and at first f2l slows you down but with more and more practice it gets a lot faster even feliks learnd to do f2l from this guy so we can surely learn to have better times :)

+collector99 , Speedcube, first one was Zhanchi, now it's moyuaolong, but now i'm like 30sec solver. Pb is 18, i still take long on f2l though.

+badmephisto Dude you should be much more than glad you are the best when it comes to teaching this thing. Even max tutorials trending nowadays are just remake of your style. Respect you for that.
Why, thank you for such kind words Sylvia! Glad you found it helpful and happy cubing!
This video never get old..
The case explained @1:15 is much easier to solve by lifting the pair up in the direction of the white, then seperating the pair by doing a U2 (two moves in upper layer in whatever direction you want), then returning the edge to the upper layer and they are alligned in the upper layer for insertion. The total amount of moves will then be 8 instead of 12 and you can do it without rotating the cube (aka switching your grip of the cube). This only works when the colors that you are matching are not overlapping.

Hi, Badmenphisto. I hope you're reading this. I just watched this video and i understood everything. My average time with the beginners f2l was around 1 min 3 secs. I'm going to practice every day for 2 or 3 weeks and then I'll come back to this video and see if my average time is shorter. Anyways If it works or not, thank you very much for your effort, you really did a great job. I hope this means something to you. :)

I love you, man. All these other tuts and THIS IS THE ONLY GOOD ONE! Really helped me understand! I now average sub 25!!!
Did you say add about a minute to my time? How about ten minutes lol. So I wake in the middle of the night and pick up my cube and holy crap!! I'm now faster than my best time, at least once. Great tutorial, thanks!
