Dominic Raab, the newly appointed UK Secretary of State for Exiting the EU, makes a statement in the House of Commons on Thursday, July 12, introducing the British government's Brexit white paper, which sets out its plan to leave the European Union.
The document is being released shortly after the resignations of Boris Johnson as Foreign Secretary and David Davis as Brexit Secretary. The two frontbenchers resigned in reaction to Prime Minister Theresa May's Brexit plan, known as Chequers, which she released last week.
Chequers is opposed by many in the Tory party since it seeks for the UK to maintain close ties with Brussels after leaving the Union, which is set to take place on March 29, 2019.
