Influenced and united by the work of neurologist Oliver Sacks, an entrepreneurial group comprising of musical artist Beatie Wolfe, Spirit of Creation and 20/20 Research teamed up on a 4-month research tour. Beatie Wolfe performed her original music at a series of Priory Group care homes across the UK while responses were monitored both during the live performance and in the weeks following as the same patients listened to Beatie's music on headsets. This is the first study of its kind to test music unconnected to past and memory - inspired my Beatie's personal experiences & studies in the U.S. and Portugal - and is the first part of a larger project looking at the power of music to help to reanimate people living with dementia. "While performing 'The Power of Music' tour for people living with dementia I have been lucky enough to witness some of the most powerful and positive responses to music I have ever experienced. Watching people becoming reanimated and bought to life before my eyes has been incredibly moving, and it has been truly fulfilling to be able to serve in this way: to uplift through my music."
