If you do not know the Latin name for a particular species you can type the common name of the species into the field box and then search for the Latin name in the 'Taxon Dictionary' by clicking on the small green book icon shown next to the species field box. The 'Taxon Dictionary' box will then appear. You can search for the Latin name by entering the common name and clicking the search button. The possible Latin names will appear at the bottom of the box in the genus and species section. Once you have located the Latin name you require (normally the Latin name which has (preferred) and (recorded) next to it), with the correct common name, you can click on it and it will appear in the species field box.
