Kenneth (Ken) W. Harrigan has been a dedicated volunteer and supporter of the ROM for the past 24 years. He first joined the ROM Board of Trustees in 1989 and in 1992, he took on the dual responsibility and challenge of chairing the ROM Board of Trustees and serving as Founding Chair of the ROM Board of Governors (then known as the ROM Foundation). Ken's extraordinary leadership and vision was integral to the Museum at this critical time and his commitment and guidance set the course for the future growth and development of the ROM Governors, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

In 2000, Ken once again demonstrated his leadership and deep commitment to the Museum by taking on the role of Co-Founding Chair of the ROM Heritage Governors, a position he held until 2005. The ROM Heritage Governors are a select group of dedicated volunteers who have provided extensive service and support to the Museum for many years. Together they continue to guide the Museum and share their insight and passion for the ROM with the broad constituencies it serves.

Over the years, Ken has served on numerous Museum committees including most recently, the Renaissance ROM Campaign Cabinet. This bold and transformational project restored the ROM's heritage buildings, created a provocative landmark—the Michael Lee-Chin Crystal—and doubled the number of artifacts on display in the Museum.

Together, Ken and Jean Harrigan have been generous supporters of the Museum for more than 23 years and have been Royal Patrons Circle members since 1993. Ken continues to serve the Museum as a ROM Heritage Governor and Honorary Trustee, providing invaluable guidance and advice.

On behalf of the ROM and the ROM Governors, we are grateful for Ken's ongoing leadership and support and pleased to present him with the Distinguished Service Award.
