Horst Teltschik, national security advisor to Chancellor Helmut Kohl of the Federal Republic of Germany from 1982 to 1990 and the principal architect of negotiations that led to the unification of Germany, delivered the Distinguished European Lecture, "The Fall of the Wall and its Implications Twenty Years Later," at 8 p.m on October 12, 2009.
The lecture was sponsored by Notre Dame's Nanovic Institute for European Studies and the Henkels Lecture Series, and was held in the McKenna Hall auditorium.
