This was certainly a first for us, snow while out in the Altoona area! We went out knowing that there would be a possibility of snow but it wouldn't be heavy enough to cause any problems on roads. So when we awoke on our first morning flurries started falling, we went down to Johnstown to get some shots down there but saw NS 262 racing up the line when we got into town. Nice visit to Johnstown this year! So since we rarely see the roadrailer in daylight we chased it to Carney's and beat it with a few minutes to spare. After that we started heading back to the tunnels when I heard 69Q clear 246 on the scanner. I figured the train would have foreign power but when we caught up to the head end we saw it was to Dash 9's. We chased it anyway once again to Carney's and got the train kicking up a bit of snow making the shot very pretty. After that we went back to the Tunnels Inn for some breakfast, I checked the clock and realized it was 9:30 and the Amtrak should be coming through so I set up the tripod for the Eastbound, as I was walking back the Pennsylvanian rounded the bend and I got a photo of that. Then we caught a few more train at the tunnel and a shot over on track one. Some leased power, solid EMD lashup's and some friendly engineers giving toots on the horn! This video is a tribute to all the men and women who risk their lives fighting for our freedom and who have fought for our freedom as this was filmed on Veterans Day, and we attended the ceremony in town and it was beautiful. Thanks Veterans!
