I'm uploading this cuz it's 50 years old and awesome. His unthrowability sections at 25:25 and 56:45, and ne waza at 30:45 minutes may be some of the most important footage for judo and aikidoists I've ever seen, IMO.

Note that I'm not monetizing this because I'm not sure who, anymore, owns it. I've had it on my machine for ages, didn't see it online, so shared it. Let me know if anyone has a compelling copyright claim. Best wishes.

FiNtOIGaNo MeSo: you're preaching to the choir. I agree 100%. Judo throws on the street are devastating, Hence the reason Gracie had super padded mats installed for his fight with Kimura. He knew damn well a good hard throw from Kimura would fill his Gi pants with a big Brazlian Mr Goodbar, and allow Kimura to throw on a sub immediately. My point was that Gracie BJJ/BJJ for the most part, is nothing more than Pre WW2 Judo Newaza, that was given stupid names.

Many of these techniques are now banned in competition, which to my mind is rubbish. International sporting judo has lost the essence of judo.. thanks for posting...

The most authentic, effective and beautiful Judo. The real budo. For me It's really the greatest honor being able to watch this timeless tutorial from the "Judo no Kami" - 柔道の神
Yes "Ground fighting" pre dates Kano on a very limited basis. When Kano turned his guys lose to really go at ground fighting you get Kosen based judo. Look up Sensei Oda's black and white films and tell me ONE technique that isn't in BJJ. The Kodokan guys took ground fighting to a whole new level pre WW2.

Technicality at its finest.
I have always wanted to try out Judo for a long time now, the thing is that this Judo looks so different from what I see and perceive is being taught nowadays. When you see Mifune sensei here, I see as if I was watching Aikido, BJJ,Judo and Jujutsu. There are great Judo practitioners now,but from videos like this I feel like the modern Judo is missing something,I wonder if could try Jujutsu and BJJ to get closer to what we see Mifune sensei doing here.
