These coils are powered by 15kv/30ma neon sign transformers. The capacitors are murata doorknob type in a mmc configuration. The spark gap consisted of parallel brass bars that were adjustable. Quenching was provided via high output raft inflating pumps. The secondary coils are 11 1/2"x4", and the toploads are 8" spheres with breakout points. Individually these coils would create streamers up to 28" long. They are shown wired in series, with the ground connections of each wired to each other, and the nsts out of phase, forming a complete loop from ground connection to secondary to topload, to streamer, to topload, to secondary and back to ground. The coils make a most peculiar noise that you can't really identify in these videos. At certain power levels the noise created by them would be mostly cancelled out by being out of phase, but the remaining noise was almost musical. It had an echoic quality and sounded like it could be a distinct synthesized instrument from a techno tune. Hope you enjoy!
