Many of us think we have a grasp on what diversity means in the world, and what it means to us. But a passport and the right attitude can change all that in meaningful ways.
Scott Winter is an assistant professor at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln╩╝s College of Journalism and Mass Communications. He specializes in feature/sports writing, ethics and page design, but has taught everything from social justice journalism to magazine editing.
His job has also taken him on teaching gigs in Kosovo, Ethiopia and India where he may have developed his unhealthy fascination for female punk bands.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
