On January 23rd, Assembly Member Adrin Nazarian's Armenian Genocide education bill (AB 659) overcame yet another legislative hurdle with the unanimous 16-0 adoption of the measure by the CA State Assembly Appropriations Committee. Video of the complete committee consideration of the measure is posted here.

The measure, co-authored by Assemblymember Katcho Achadjian, calls for the inclusion of oral history testimonies in the teaching of the Armenian, Cambodian, Rwandan and Sudan Genocides, and the Holocaust. The measure is set to be considered by the full CA State Assembly during the week of January 27th.

"We are very grateful for the stewardship of Assembly members Nazarian and Achadjian" said ANCA-WR Legislative Affairs Director Haig Baghdassarian, who was at the CA State Capitol meeting with Assemblymembers in support of the measure. "As a result of their leadership, more and more high school students may learn about the Armenian Genocide."
