Steve and Eric riding the Bennett trail # 872 in the southern San Juan mountains.
We had just dropped into the canyon and this was our first creek crossing. We still had several miles of this canyon to ride to reach the Frisco Fitton trail and were worried that if there were many more of these deep crossings we would not make the loop we had planned. At this juncture I was ready to say "OK let's turn around" when Steve asked if I had my camera on, and away he went. We ended up riding almost 60 miles of wet sloppy mud, and when we weren't in mud we were riding wet leaves and wet pine needles and wet rocks and crossing wet logs and in intermittent rain. The riding turned to Romaniacs enduro later in the day when the rain left mud bogs and puddles everywhere. Everything was greasy. This was truly exhausting riding all these miles just trying to keep the bikes upright. Yikes.
