Why don't we find women in the high ecclesiastical offices? In words, pictures and film sequences, von Blumencron tries to bring the memory of corageous female pioneers back to life. The main focus is on Mary Magdalene who holds the key to a new Christianity since 2000 years ago.

Over centuries the picture of Mary Magdalene has been "repainted" again and again. Depending on the spirit of the time, she was a saint, a prostitute, the lover of Jesus, repentant sinner, femme fatal and red-haired pin-up-girl of the sacral arts. Who was she really?

Maria Blumencron is film maker, author, speaker and founding member of the aid organization Shelter108 e.V. After graduation, Maria decides to become an actress. She finished her training at the Vienna Conservatory in 1989 and was further trained to become a play writer at the HFF in Munich. After ten years on stage and TV she decided to change the perspective and work behind the camera in 1999. In her first documentary "Escape Over The Himalayas" she describes the escape of six Tibetan children.
Maria's work has so far been awarded with 19 international film and TV-awards.
Recently Maria devotes herself to the figure of "Mary Magdalene". A first documentary about this topic has recently been broadcasted in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
