"Oldmar's Centennial and the History of Northeastern Pinellas."
The City of Oldsmar celebrates its centennial in 2016. On April 12, 1916, Ransom E. Olds acquired more than 37,500 acres of land along the northern crest of Tampa Bay. Briefly known as "Tampa Shores," this municipality along the Pinellas/Hillsborough county line also served as an anchor for numerous agricultural settlements in the East Lake area. Jim Schnur outlines chapters in the settlement's history and describes other nearby communities in northeastern Pinellas. For information, visit
www.pinellascounty.org/heritage or call (727) 582-2233, Heritage Village, 11909 125th St. N., Largo.
