Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren mentioned the New England Pension Assistance Project, based out of the Pension Action Center in UMass Boston's Gerontology Institute, during the Senate HELP Committee's Subcommittee on Primary Health and Aging. Senator Warren asked Nancy Altman, the chair of the Pension Rights Center, about the program and highlighted the work of the New England Pension Assistance Project--and the fact that it is part of a program that has recovered $175 million for nearly 50,000 clients since it was founded in 1993. Senator Warren also noted that the counseling program recovers $8 for every $1 in federal funding spent on the program.
