Oscar winner Paul Hirsch and I recently discussed his enormous body of work in the film industry. Paul Hirsch has been one of Hollywood's top editors for decades. During our conversation, Paul explained how he met legendary director Brian De Palma with whom he has worked on multiple movies including Carrie, The Fury & Mission Impossible. Paul also told me in detail about the time when he met George Lucas and how he was hired to edit Star Wars - for which he as well as Marcia Lucas & Richard Chew won the Oscar. Furthermore, we talked about The Empire Strikes Back and why he did not work on the subsequent Star Wars films. Paul also shared great stories about working with directors Joel Schumacher & John Hughes. On top of that, he and I spoke about his upcoming autobiography "A Long Time Ago in a Cutting Room Far, Far Away: My Fifty Years Editing Hollywood Hits—Star Wars, Carrie, Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Mission: Impossible, and More". The book will be released on November 5th. I hope you enjoy our conversation. All my best, Michael Hollands
