I'm a professor in the College of Business's Department of Decision Sciences and Information Systems. The field of information systems studies how technology can be leveraged to improve business.
We help prepare students for careers where they design and implement information systems that improve decision making and help solve organizational problems. I teach Business Intelligence and Healthcare Informatics.
I have several funded studies where I research: 1) the use of data warehousing and data mining to improve decision making in healthcare 2) barriers health information exchanges and 3) personal health records and medical passports for underserved communities.
My aim is to mold effective IT leaders that understand how to exploit technology for competitive advantage and have a firm grasp on the intricacies of synchronization of business processes and technology.
Before coming to FIU, I worked at Exxon Company as a systems analyst and as an engineer.
