Time-lapse of the April 16, 2011 (7PM-8PM) historic storm system hitting James Fort and the archaeological dig site. Beautiful light behind the Captain John Smith statue as the storm comes and goes across the James River, followed by a nice sunset. I tied a weatherproof time-lapse camera to one of the fort wall posts at about 3PM in hopes of catching a glimpse of the storm. I believe this is the same thunderstorm cell that hit Gloucester County and Deltaville with a tornado shortly thereafter. Also, this is likely the same storm that knocked out power from the Surry Nuclear Power Station across the river from the island.
