PRESTONSBURG, KY — A new Kentucky NSF EPSCoR-funded program is providing middle school students in eastern Kentucky the opportunity to learn advanced concepts in science and engineering.
On November 6th and 13th, Big Sandy Community & Technical College’s Prestonsburg Campus hosted Floyd County middle school students participating in the Appalachian BOLD program. Appalachian BOLD (Bioeconomy, Outreach, Leadership, and Development) is an education outreach program that aims to increase the diversity of people entering the STEM (Science, Technology, Education, and Math) workforce by targeting the state’s economically challenged coal regions and engaging students in STEM disciplines.
