http://www.euronews.com/ Campaigning in South Korea's presidential election is entering the final furlong with both candidates running neck-and-neck.

Park Guen-hye of the ruling Saenuri party is the daughter of former military leader Park Chung-hee who led South Korea from 1961 to 1979.

The 60-year-old has faced criticism over the legacy of her father.

In September she apologised for human rights abuses committed during his rule.

She is up against Moon Jae-in of the Democratic United Party.

On Sunday the pair sparred in the third and final televised debate ahead of the election on Wednesday.

Social issues dominated and both vowed to do more to support mothers and boost South Korea's low birthrate.

The economy is high on the agenda with South Korean households more indebted than in the United States just before the 2008 credit crunch.

Opinion polls put Mrs Park a whisker ahead as she attempts to become South Korea's first ever woman president.
