Dare to Live is a ground breaking life skills programme that supports individuals in overcoming the effects of trauma, depression or anxiety. The programme offers valuable tools for participants in stabilisation, self-awareness and interpersonal interactions, giving them the confidence to move forward with their lives.
Dare to Live is an effective methodology incorporating psychological and experiential learning techniques. Horses are an integral part of the programme. They naturally facilitate participants to gain new insights and strategies for successful communication and relationship building. These practitioner facilitated interactions are non-ridden and promote feelings of safety.
How does Equine Facilitated Learning work? Horses are highly sensitive to humans' intentions and feelings; they are naturally able to help participants understand how their actions or behaviours appear to others. As participants begin to explore positive ways of interacting with the horses they attain real-time feedback which is easily translated to gain important insights for their human interactions. Transformational change naturally occurs enabling them to live a more balanced, fulfilled life and to successfully build healthy relationships in the future.
How to Take Part? We accept clients with symptoms of PTSD, depression and anxiety or in need of general support as a consequence of natural disaster, interpersonal or combat related trauma. We consider all civilian self-referred clients, as well as those referred via the NHS or other agencies. The Programme and its Benefits The Dare to Live programme is sensitively delivered as one, two or three-day modules. Those that complete the full three days are awarded an Edexcel Assured Crossfields Institute Qualification for Interpersonal Skills Training, which may be used to explore employment opportunities and evidence a change in interpersonal relationship management for those where this has been a previous barrier to employment.
