Audio Visual Conservation at the Nashville Public Library was founded in 2015 to conserve, preserve, and make accessible the moving image and sound collections under the care of the Nashville Public Library and to collect and care for audiovisual records vital to the history and culture of Davidson County and Middle Tennessee. The Metro Archives and Special Collections Departments have amassed a collection in excess of 4,400 pieces and counting. Staff are now beginning the preservation process on the collection and have already taken in new materials of significant historical value to Nashville. This video will walk the viewer through the creation of the effort as well as plans for its future.
