TOEFL IBT3 speaking class. Recorded 17 April 08 in HCMC Vietnam. Students were each provided with a random topic question. Depending on the length of the question, students were given 10 or 15 seconds reading time, followed by 15 seconds preparation time and 45 seconds response time. Recording on camera was optional, hence the reason why two questions were answered without the student being filmed (audio only). Considering this was their first 'performance' on camera, these students did well. As could be expected, there were certain errors made by students in respect to their sentence structures. Teaching the use of transitions has been a main focus in order to improve cohesiveness and comprehension in each response. Hopefully, this video will serve as a benchmark for these students to gauge their future progress against their abilities demonstrated on this video. In addition, this video upload ensures a secure version is made available at all times (prevents the risk of this video being lost by damaged drive/s, cds, etc.) Need a guide to getting a teaching job?
