Fulcrum is one of the first of the wheel manufacturers to make a stark commitment to the road tubeless movement. Where some companies might have a tubeless option, the Italian company offers three. Today we're going to talk a little bit about their top of the line offering, the Racing Zero 2-Way Fit wheelset:

The Racing Zero 2-Way can be fitted with both tubeless and clincher tires and the advantages of tubeless are many: they are safer and more comfortable but they also offer loads in performance thanks to their minimized rolling resistance and better traction in the corners. Some might say the ride is similar to a full tubular setup; truthfully the ride feel is original, refined and confidence inspiring. The Racing Zero 2-Ways also feature Fulcrum's USB hybrid ceramic bearing technology utilizing the best ceramic balls available on the market -- Silicon Nitride.

In comparison to the ever-popular Racing One, the Racing Zero takes from its race-inspired little brother in overall design and construction save for a carbon fiber hubshell, aluminum axles and the bladed aluminum spokes laced in the Fulcrum patented Two-to-One spoke ratio. 2:1 is designed to balance spoke tension for an overall faster, better riding wheel.

Tubeless is still a relatively green concept in the road market and the reasons why the market has been so hesitant to give tubeless a try, are few. Truthfully, most people are too scared to try something new are simply waiting for a company to release a product that they can claim, kills the clincher. Right now, no company has...but we think that if Fulcrum hasn't with this iteration of the Racing Zero, they are mighty close. We'll let you decide.
