The Renovo C172 simulator is a faithful reproduction of a Cessna 172 aircraft cockpit right down to every switch and aircraft function. Much of the software behind the cockpit functionality was design and coded inhouse. This also includes a custom plugin (Renovo XConnect) for XPlane that allows the Simkits instruments to operate correctly.
Most of the engineering assemblies are inhouse designed and produced which include: Rudder pedals assembly Control column assembly Shell and supporting structure Centre console and trim assembly Avionics stack. Each unit is fully seperate and USB driven. All face panels are etched and cut on our own laser cutter.
Electronics used are Phidgets for much of the cockpuit I/O and Avionics displays Beta Innovations Plasma for primary flight controls Simkits CCU for instruments
The visual system gives approximately 160 degrees FOV (horizontal). Each screen is 1500mm wide. Each projector sits in front of the screen facing backwards and bounces to a single folding mirror behind each screen. Total projection distance is 900mm (450x2).
