A clip from Janet's DVD, Expressing the Bouquet in Watercolor
And I always have my trusty piece of paper here so that I can always play with the color and touch the paper before I start because that's a scariest place. I think I'll start with those blues just to get a little bit of a feel of that blue or the purples. And that's the Janet's Violet Rose and the cobalt blue are those colors.
So we're going to drop in a color just to see what happens here. How about if I get some sky blue in there, just touch that color in there. I think I'll go ahead and put just a little more sky blue in there. I'm just mostly thinking color. It could be any type of flower really. It doesn't have to be that particular flower. So when you start to make strokes, just keep that in mind.
Start to play with color and shape. I'm liking that. It's kind of a yellow green. I get my greens in very early. I like it, of course I just started so I don't know but it's a good thing. So I'm making that go up in that direction.
I like the weight of the paper so I'm not going to go getting rid of everything at this point.
I often throw paint because I don't like it to look too painted. Sometimes when you paint things they get to looking like you forced it. So I'm thinking of values and I want to watch what's happening on my paper. That's what I enjoy about painting.
