http://www.euronews.com/ Arab foreign ministers are meeting as the Arab League looks to add its backing to the six-point UN peace plan for Syria.

Despite the League's divisions the Arab nations are formulating a common position, calling for a dialogue between the Syrian regime and the opposition, even if Damascus says it will not listen to anything the Arab league says.

"Syria's accepting the plan is a very important step, but all the parties has to be confirm that the implementation of plan is more important than the acceptance. This is the last chance for Syria, the importance of this initiative is that it's an international and Arab initiative in the same time," said Iraq's Foreign Minister Hoshiyar Zebari.

For the first time in 20 years the League is meeting in Iraq, after a series of attacks last week that left scores dead. Very heavy security in Baghdad is trying to ensure there is no repetition during the summit.

However one suicide bomber did get through on Wednesday, killing a policeman.
