What about the situation where the genuine nice guy gets hurt by a girl and then transforms into a douche? Happened to my two closest friends

Spot on. Being "nice" is not an instant qualifier to getting a girlfriend. How many "nice" girls have you completely overlooked because she was plain or unattractive in all other regards? Many, probably, and it's the same when girls look at you. You want a romantic partner? Cool. Try and spruce up other areas of yourself to make yourself worth knowing. Learn a second language; buy some nice aftershave; brush up on your guitar skills; take classes to acquire a new talent; revamp your wardrobe; get a new haircut; find a new hobby; go to the gym - just anything to make yourself stand out from the crowd, y'know? Also, recognise that you're totally fine on your own; you don't need anyone. The second you self-improve and stop looking for attention, you'll find yourself getting it.

Actual "nice guys" are already dating someone, because they're actually NICE GUYS. Go figure.

Ok, come on now, though. You have to admit that there are girls who STRING GUYS ALONG for male attention, but they say "we're just friends" when he wants some kind of commitment.

This is so true! Girls who say that they want nice guys are not lying! Girls do want someone nice but they also want someone who they have stuff in common with. And if you're a nerdy guy you can easily find a nice girl who likes nerdy things and you'll fall in love and play D&D forever but it's not gonna be the tall blonde with the big tits. Not saying that tall blondes with big tits can't be nerdy but they usually aren't. Any guy who uses this excuse is to be avoided at all costs just for saying that. You can't scare away a girl by being nice. But you can scare her away by not respecting her choice to not find you interesting. It's weird.

May I send a message to the gentleman around us? You're not somehow of less value when a girl says no to you. Please remember that whether a girl is mean to you or says a respectful no, you're allowed to feel hurt, but please don't take it to mean you're "less of a man," or whatever insecurity that may creep up on you. Sometimes I think we (men and women both) get in this mind-set after a rejection, that in order to salvage our confidence it's somehow the other person who's awful and terrible. We're both imperfect beings, so please, cut yourself some slack, but also cut her some slack (and here I'm speaking generally, not about abusive relationships).
