Last night I prototyped a sprite generator and wanted to show the first version. It generates a 2d sprite from an animated 3d model. The final would use much higher resolution models, these were reduced for a mobile game.
I need to clean it up so it captures specific points in the animation, as it is now it just plays the animation and takes 8 screenshots at an interval independent of the length of the animation. I should make it take a pic at the first frame, skip some frames and snap another shot, etc.
It takes 8 screenshots, resizes them to 256x256 tiles and packs them into a single png texture it outputs. I just open a little sprite player app I downloaded to see what the generated sprite looks like in 2d.
