Playa Del Carmen Team does a single run in this Combat Challenge.
The Bombero Combat Challenge was conceived as a team building exercise at the culmination of our annual fire academy. The reward for the fastest team (combined 4 fastest men, plus their relay time) time is awarded the traveling trophy. This trophy is of a firefighter rescuing another firefighter as he is falling.

Each department can enter 8 men in the competition, who run the course to establish their individual performance time. The four fastest times become that department’s relay time. After the relay teams run the course this establishes the sum of the four fastest plus the relay time, which yields the combined department time. This is what is used to award the trophy. The emphasis is on TEAM not individual.

The course is made up of a ladder climb to a rope where hose is pulled up and placed in a box. Next is the 5 gallon bucket sand fill, filled and dumped twice (simulates kinetic work). Next is the hose drag which simulates how a firefighter might need to pull hose full of water. Finally, the body drag is the most grueling and time ends when the body crosses the finish line.

Awards are given for fastest individual and fastest department time.
