In December 2005 a few of us heard that 30 children were sharing one pencil in a community in Niger, West Africa. Our hearts broke and we were moved to take action. This is the story of how Pencils for Kids (P4K) was born, one pencil at a time. P4K is now a registered charitable organization whose vision is to make a difference in the world by providing every child the opportunity for an education. In the years since that day in 2005, P4K has built schools, a library, a sewing centre and has started a Farmers of the Future program and Scholarships for Girls. It is entirely volunteer led with no paid staff. We are currently working in the community of Liboré, in Niger, West Africa. www.pencilsforkids.com
