Since the Schlafly Bottleworks opened in 2003, the outdoor patio has been covered with a simple, seasonal tent. In 2012 we took the plunge and constructed a permanent pavilion above the patio. On July 7th, 2012, we held an event to christen the new pavilion and invited some local religious leaders (a priest, a rabbi, and a minister) to say a few words, just as we have done in the past when we opened both the Schlafly Tap Room in 1991 and Bottleworks in 2003. The July 7th event also played host to St. Louis area home brewers to share hundreds of gallons of unique homebrew originally brewed for the 2012 St. Louis Brewers Heritage Festival. Just 2 days before Heritage Festival, and after 5 years of pouring homebrew at the event, the City of St. Louis ruled it illegal to pour homebrew at the event, so Schlafly stepped up and offered our space to throw a party to enjoy the homebrew free of charge.
