Amanda Pope is former public school dance educator (2004-2015), holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance Studies (University of North Carolina at Greensboro) and a Masters of Arts degree in Dance Education K-12 (New York University). She specializes in hip-hop and urban street jazz, performance choreography, and competitive dance. She has performed in numerous live shows throughout the U.S., dancing for recording artist Lil' Kim, Ne-Yo, Lady Sovereign, and with Bellan Contemporary Dance Theater. Amanda is the founder and artistic director of Amanda Pope Dance Company, which offers pre-professional dance training to ages 7-25 through educational outreach, master classes, internship, mentorship, apprenticeship, workshops, and a summer dance intensive. Her award winning dance team APDC-Chimera Concept has performed and competed at Hip Hop International, World of Dance, and Prelude Urban Dance Competition. Amanda has been dance faculty at the Harlem School of the Arts since 2011. In 2013, Amanda was recognized as one of the top fifty teachers in New York City receiving the NYC Big Apple Teacher Excellence Award, awarded by former mayor Mike Bloomberg. In 2015, she was featured in Dance Teacher Magazine and made front-page news in the Sampson Independent Newspaper (Clinton, N.C.). Amanda has a passion to dance and is also passionate about pushing people pass their potential, helping them to discover the endless possibilities and opportunities they have to master their abilities.
