Lorna Ross, Group Director at Fjord with the opening keynote at SDGC18 in Dublin:
The journey we travel with our tools have accelerated and the collisions are happening in unanticipated ways. The era of servant tools is over. The tools we now build rival us in intelligence and awareness. The human/machine dialogue is no longer binary but instead is becoming a language of voice, gestures and even habit.
What is the role of design in this era of intelligent systems and machine automation? What can human-centred design bring to machine-to-machine interaction? What will replace traditional principles of interactions as our technologies increasingly become ‘black boxes’.
Lorna reflects on the pivots design is making at the Dock to prepare for these shifts and will share the emerging design competencies she sees thriving in this post-service economy.
