Another new Experiment at the Outreach Festival 2019!
Last year Franz Hackl invited a professor from Kiel in Germany for the opening concert. Ulrich Hoinkes, an expert in Romance languages and cultures, was so enthusiastic about the inspiring atmosphere of this festival that he is once again making an offer for outreach this year. This time, his students came up with something very special within the framework of a creative seminar on postcolonialism. They want to enter into a dialogue with the musicians in Schwaz by means of a self-produced film. Under the motto 'Caribbean Culture Clash' they will deal with the subject of slavery as a burden of the past and ask how America, Europe and Africa come together in this part of the world marked by cultural diversity. In addition to the film production, which was created with great commitment and expressiveness by the Kiel students, the musicians in Schwaz, their rhythms and their musical sensitivity, are to enter into a synaesthetic exchange with the images of the film. The film pauses several times in the sense of a stimulus-and-response process and invites the musicians to improvise - a challenge that is completely in tune with the high artistic level of the Schwazer Jazztage, and perhaps even opens up a new perspective of meaningful image and sound staging.
