Every time I see someone who is undergoing some kind of emotional stress, I always always always look first to see what their diet is like. If they have a poor diet, then automatically I assume that they're blowing their problem out of proportion because they're not equipped to deal with it like a healthy person.
Not to sound like a preachy health nazi or anything, but you'd be surprised how the food you eat affects your emotional and mental state. When you don't eat good food, you don't feel good. It's that simple.
This is most apparent when you take someone who has a clean diet and feed them a bunch of junk food. They normally feel like crap for a day or two while their body cleans itself.
But when you take someone who is used to eating all that junk food, they don't notice the difference. They always have a low-level of anxiety and fear that weakens them to any problems that they'll inevitably encounter in their real life.
Next time you're having a problem, whether you're depressed or have anxiety or whatever, check your diet. Are you eating a bunch of crap? Are you exercising? No? Then change those things immediately.
I'm not saying they'll make your problem go away right away, but they'll make it easier for you to deal with it in a normal and mature way.
