User Environment Management (UEM) is the Third Layer of the Desktop (on top of the Operating System and Application Set). Virtualization Technology enables the OS to be decouple from the hardware, Applications to be decoupled from the OS, and UEM enables complete virtualization and separation of the User from the OS and Apps and enables this to be managed separatley and dynamically applied to any OS or App, not matter how it is delivered. i.e Citrix, Microsoft or VMware.
Dan Palmer, pre-sales consultant, AppSense US, discusses the third layer of the desktop and how by separating the user from the OS and App, desktop management costs can be reduced and single image desktop virtualization (VDI) can be adopted.
