A family saga that begins in Scotland in 1913, progresses through two world wars and leads to a life in Australia. - created at http://animoto.com.
'Far Across The Sea' is a novel based on fact, and gives readers a good idea of how life was for the people of Scotland, during and after two world wars. The family in the story worked in the coal mines, which was a 'reserved occupation', but the young men were itching to get to the war. Even years after the end of World War Two, rationing was still in place. Because of its geographic place in the world, Australia had been comparatively untouched by the war, and the economy was booming. The country put out the call for immigrants with its 'Populate or Perish' campaign, and the hero of this story travels far across the sea in search of a high employment and better prospects.
