Soils with high salt levels are incapable of producing good harvests. Women in southeastern Bangladesh are now using particularly robust rice and vegetable varieties to ensure plentiful harvests, a part of which they can sell to make extra money. The participation of women in agricultural work is by no means a common sight in Bangladesh. But Bangladesh, one of the world's poorest countries and hard hit by global warming, needs the support of women to fight and adapt to climate change.
