Members of the Asheville City Council are urging the pulbic to avoid this weekends Go Topless rally in downtown Asheville. In an open letter, the council states that the issue is a matter of state law, and that their options are limited. Last year's "Go Topless" event featured a number of women who exposed their breasts at Pack Square. The Mayor says City Council plans to discuss options about a request to state lawmakers to take another look at laws that could restrict rallies like the one planned Sunday. Far be it from Council members to discourage people from coming downtown, so in their letter, the city's top officials suggest citizens to seek out the Goombay Festival, or other events that would allow people to avoid the rally.
