Satellite Export Control Reform Signed into Law by President Obama

The President now has the authority to transfer satellites and related components off of the USML/ITAR. The Administration can now proceed with implementing the recommendations of the '1248 Report' to update satellite export controls that promise to enhance both U.S. commerce and security.

Those who attended ISPCS 2012 had the opportunity to hear a seminal discussion on the Export Control Reform Initiative from primary sources. The session was chaired by: Franceska Schroeder of Fish & Richardson. Panelists were Anthony Dearth, Directorate of Defense Trade Controls Licensing; Paula Geisz, NASA Export Administrator; Lou Ann McFadden, Defense Technology Security Administration; and Robert Warren, Directorate of Defense Trades Controls Licensing.
