The New York Debate League is a consortium of public, independent and charter schools, sponsored by The English-Speaking Union and Claremont McKenna College's Middle School Public Debate Program. The League celebrated its final debate of the 2011-12 school year on June 16, 2012 at the Morgan Library & Museum with a Public Debate on the topic: The government should restrict free speech during national emergencies. The topic was inspired by the Morgan's exhibition Churchill: The Power of Words. As it was a Public Debate, the audience served as the judges, voting at the end to determine the debate's winning team.
