The Wildcats (2-6 entering the game) not only managed to upset UCLA, they routed the No. 7 Bruins 52-14. That was UCLA's first loss of the season. The Bruins were ranked No. 5 in the BCS standings entering the game. Freshman quarterback Willie Tuitama and freshman receiver Mike Thomas led an offense that gained 519 total yards. Running backs Mike Bell and Greg Harris each rushed for more than 100 yards and scored a TD. Syndric Steptoe also scored on a thrilling 63-yard punt return in the third quarter.
