Thursday, June 27, 2013, 3:00-4:30 EDT
Featuring:
Carmen Velásquez, MA
Founder & Executive Director
Alivio Medical Center
Chicago, IL
During this webinar, Ms. Velásquez discusses how community mobilization and advocacy contributed to the creation and continued success of Alivio Medical Center, including:

Today, Alivio serves uninsured, working poor families and individuals who have historically not accessed healthcare due to factors such as language and cultural barriers, intimidation of traditional healthcare institutions, or little awareness of available resources.
-Discussing how she has engaged local and state policy makers in through advocacy and education on issues of importance to the community.
